Hello sweet readers!!
So this post has been long awaited. I’ve been trying to find the time and inspiration to make this post, as I want every post on SMJ to be thoughtful and purposeful. It has also been a hard one to write, as I’ve been processing our transition of moving from Kentucky to South Florida. I’ve also had this voice in the back of my mind saying, “shouldn’t you have your life together a liiittle more before posting your life update?” But I’ve realized in the past few years of my young adulthood that NOTHING goes the way you plan it perfectly in your head. If it weren’t for the peace I get from trusting in God’s plan, I feel like I would lose my mind sometimes!
This move is something Charles and I have longed for well before I graduated from Murray State. At first, we weren’t sure where or when, but as our goals and aspirations began to mold into their own, we realized that moving is what we needed to do to give ourselves the opportunity we were looking for to grow professionally and mentally, so after graduation (and much planning and saving), move we did!
There are several reasons why we chose South Florida to be our new home. First and foremost, we have both always said that if we move, we’re moving south. My heart yearns for sunshine and a city built for dreamers. Since we also had family settled in FL, that made the decision that much easier. Those who know me know that I am a family gal, and so is Charles. That was the hardest part about moving. We both wanted and needed the change, but leaving family and friends that we hold so dear and see so often was excruciatingly difficult, and still is on lonely days. However, since the move, we have flourished in body and spirit. We’ve managed to make Florida feel like home, and so have the Beagles! Now, instead of chasing rabbits, they chase lizards, and have quickly made several new puppy pals in the neighborhood! Charles and I have both found jobs that we enjoy and that pay the bills, though we’re still always hard at work to make our dreams and goals happen!
I recently received a care package from my sweet Momma with lots of thoughtful goodies, including Tom Hanks’ book “Uncommon Type” (which I am so excited to read, as I am Tom’s #1 fan) and also two inspirational quotes that I hold dear in my daring transition, exploring life beyond Kentucky.
“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” -T.S. Elliot
And my personal favorite,
“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” -Winnie the Pooh
To all of my faithful readers in KY, I love you and I will see you soon! Kentucky is always where my heart will be, even while I’m off exploring this big world!
Look out for my next post where I’ll be sharing some of my favorite memories from my trip to Europe in commemoration of my two year Europeversary!
With love,
Sweet Maddie Jane
